The journey: Grade 7 to Grade 12
From broad foundations to focused mastery
Under CBE, learning runs in two stages, and Granada School is built to deliver both on one campus.
Every girl studies a broad, common curriculum. This is the discovery stage — three years to find out what she loves, where she excels, and how she learns best.
Junior School learning areas include English, Kiswahili (or Kenyan Sign Language), Mathematics, Integrated Science, Pre-Technical Studies, Social Studies, Religious Education, Agriculture & Nutrition, and Creative Arts & Sports, with optional foreign languages.
At the close of Grade 9, each learner is placed into a Senior School pathway. Placement draws on her Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results, school-based assessments from Grades 7–9, and her own interests and aptitude — with guidance from her teachers and parents.
The core
What every Granada girl studies
Whatever her pathway, every Senior School learner takes the national core:
- ◆English
- ◆Kiswahili or Kenyan Sign Language
- ◆Community Service Learning (CSL) — a structured, assessed programme of real community projects
- ◆Physical Education
Digital literacy runs through every subject. Mathematics is compulsory in the STEM pathway; Granada School strongly encourages it for learners in all three pathways, because numeracy keeps doors open.
